07/07/2008, " Great Time to be a First Time Buyer"
Contrary to popular beliefs, there are still good loan programs out there for first time, low income, or owner occupied properties. Through the USDA, SC Housing and FHA , a buyer is still able to purchase with little or no money down with very good interest rates starting around 5.875%. These programs however can be complicated and buyers need to work with lenders who are experts in the stipulations associated with each program. I recommend that one chooses their lender wisely.

Finally, after many months of listening to the community, going up against rigorous resistance, planning and re-planning, Beechwood Development LLC has been approved under a PPD for garden home lots by the city of Camden planning and zoning board. The idea here is that with an upscale garden cottage product in Historic Downtown Camden, Camden's older community will be able to sell their larger, high maintenance homes and opt for a smaller, more efficient , lower maintenance home with less landscaping upkeep; but not give up the convenience and the sense of community they have by living downtown.
